// FAQ

Where does the data come from? +
We aggregate directly from the USGS (Global) and TMD (Thailand) APIs. Data is authoritative and usually updates within 2-5 minutes of an event.
Are alerts instant? +
iOS background limitations prevent true "instant" push. However, our Widgets refresh every 5-10 minutes, which is the fastest allowed update interval for this data type.
Does it work offline? +
You need internet to fetch new quakes. However, once loaded, the 30-day history and map data are cached and can be viewed offline.

Global Seismic Network

iQuake connects directly to the USGS and EMSC data feeds to provide global coverage of seismic events. We monitor P-wave and S-wave detection reports to visualize magnitude, depth, and epicenter location.

Data Latency & Accuracy

Unlike crowd-sourced apps, iQuake prioritizes authoritative government data. Event reports are typically generated within 2-5 minutes of the seismic event. Our 3D Depth Engine renders the hypocenter relative to tectonic plate boundaries.
