Our Journey
The Beginning
Released Fact File, our debut iPhone app, built with Objective-C during the iOS 5-6 era. A simple concept: daily interesting facts, delivered beautifully, with zero tracking. This set the template for everything that followed.
The Android Detour
Explored Android development, building custom ROMs and launcher applications. Learned the value of open ecosystems and user freedom. Eventually realized iOS offered the privacy-first foundation we actually wanted to build on.
Return to iOS
Came back to iOS development with SwiftUI. Started production on Defndr, our offline SMS spam blocker, and iQuake, a real-time earthquake monitor. Both apps proved privacy and performance could coexist.
Building the Portfolio
Expanded into on-device AI with NuDefndr for sensitive photo protection and launched macOS utilities like Disk Kitty and CatNap. Apps in production, philosophy solidified.
Dro1d Labs Formalized
Consolidated everything under Dro1d Labs, launched our complete app portfolio to the App Store. Building tools that respect users, not exploit them. Currently maintaining 10+ active apps across iOS and macOS. Our most recent release being Maphrodite for astrocartography. Next up: WRRU? — coming late 2025.
Who We Are
Dro1d Labs is an independent software studio based between Dublin, Ireland and Bangkok, Thailand. We've been building iOS applications since 2013—long before "privacy-first" became a marketing buzzword.
Everything we create runs entirely on your device. No cloud pipelines, no tracking, no compromises. This isn't a recent pivot or PR stunt—it's how we've always operated. When you've been doing something for over a decade, it stops being a feature and starts being your DNA.
We are privacy advocates who believe technology should empower people instead of extracting data from them. Our apps are crafted carefully, tested relentlessly, and designed to solve real problems without introducing new ones.
Our work spans spam protection, secure photo vaults, earthquake monitoring, astrocartography mapping, and beyond. The surface differs—but the principle stays the same: your data belongs to you.
Outside of software, we spend a lot of our spare time caring for homeless and street cats—both in Bangkok and in Ireland. It's something we've quietly done for years and a reminder that empathy, openness, and responsibility extend beyond code.

What We Don't Do
No Ads
Zero advertising networks. Zero tracking SDKs. Zero monetization through surveillance.

We don't measure your behavior. We don't track your usage. We have no idea what you do with our apps.
No Cloud Lock-In
Your data never touches our servers. Because we don't have servers. Full stop.
